The procedure is as follows. With a free consultation, your driveway is evaluated to determine what needs to be done, and what was the cause of failure in the asphalt. Sometimes, a markout is required when extending or creating a driveway where there currently is none. We proceed by removing your driveway and any grass that's needs to be removed. Your sub base is evaluated and compacted with vibratory rollers, followed by a 4-6 inch DGA stone base course. Depending on the clay and moisture content of the ground, sometimes we can proceed with paving the same day as each project varies. Finally, we proceed to machine apply 2.5 to 3 inches of hot mix asphalt. Your beautiful new driveway can be walked on in 24 hours however we recommend 4-5 days before you start driving on it.
driveway resurfacing
Resurfacing of existing asphalt is a viable option. Keep in mind that most modern roadways and a vast majority of commercial parking lots are in fact resurfaced. You as a homeowner, have options when installing your driveway. Most contractors will tell you "it needs to be torn out, removed, and replaced". This simply put is not true. After a thorough evaluation from our knowledgeable staff, we give an honest report as to whether it needs to be resurfaced or removed. After preparing your driveway and installing a level course, we machine apply 2 inches of compacted hot mix asphalt. The finished product is a new beautiful driveway which is actually less costly and lasts just as long.

Areas to be paved are first coned off, then cleaned. Problem areas are repaired and reinforced. Sub base repairs are often made after this step. Sometimes, milling of the asphalt is required when a certain height elevation or curb reveal needs to be maintained. Finally, 2 to 3 compacted inches of hot mix asphalt, and your old parking is brand new again. Our experienced team is more than capable to accommodate all of your commercial paving needs. Let’s face it, nothing lasts forever, however you can greatly improve the life span of asphalt with sealcoating it to maintain it. Asphalt is a petroleum based product. It’s made up of sand, oil, and stone. The oil is what makes it black and it’s also what keeps it pliable so it doesn’t break and crack. Asphalt is subject to the weather; very hot during the summer and very cold during the winter. Heavy traffic and excessive abuse can take its toll on asphalt and over the years, non sealcoated asphalt loses its oil and turns grey. In doing so, it becomes brittle and starts to erode, not to mention gas, oil, and antifreeze drips and spills . If not maintained, the integrity of asphalt is comprised and it will crack and break. You can almost double the lifespan of asphalt by maintaining it. We are happy to help and explain the process step by step.
In the event that cracks develop, all is not lost. Sometimes, simple repairs which may include hot tar crack filling, milling, and saw cutting broken areas, followed by patching and sealcoating can make your old tired asphalt look new again. On commercial projects, the last step will be line striping for the finishing touch.
